Holiday Hints 2008

So I've survived (very well at that), another year of Holiday Hints. For those of you who don't know, Holiday Hints is a women's night out centered around holiday entertaining, crafting, cooking, and decorating that I help put together. This year's theme was "Jingle & Joy" and everything came together so well. I had a fabulous team that worked so hard to make it happen and cleaned up in record time.

Menu:
Zucchini Bread, Strawberry Wafer Cookies, Chicken & Dumplings, Cheddar Bay Biscuits, Sausage Balls, Apple Bars & Mini Grasshopper Ice Cream Cakes with Fudge.

This is a view of the panels at the front of the church. Burgandy panels with chocolate brown sheers, lime green bow with jingle bells & joy sign. Miniature trees and garland with white lights.

The main tree follows the same burgundy, chocolate, and lime theme. The picture does not do it justice.

A glitter joy sign (same as panels) in the center of the tree.

The Jingle Bell themed tree. Every woman got to take 2 hand crafted ornaments home.

Our snowflake tree with icicle garlands and snowflake ornaments and a snowflake topper.

Glass hurricanes on stands along the wall with pine base and green ribbon wrap topped with red bells and ribbon.

Punch bowl with burgundy cloth, chocolate organza wrap and silver jingle bell wreath.

Christmas decorated tables with a scrapbook theme. Candle holder wrapped with green patterned paper, white corrugated paper, ribbons and bells. Base is a 12 X 12 paper and bells scattered around.

New Year's Eve table design - 2009 has clips to hold resolutions, reminders, or pictures. Table runner with silver/black ribbon, black stones, silver curls and votive candles rimmed with silver glitter. You can see the notebook on the place setting that everyone went home with (let me know if you would like a .pdf copy of it. Claire - I've already got you down.)

I'm so please with how everything went. I demonstrated several crafts, decorations, & jingle bell ideas. Diana demonstrated some kid crafts. Andrea rocked the night with her hilarious take on family activities. Christine spoke so elequently about how God is a creative God - the world he made, you and me, and that we are created to be creative. Maybe not with a glue gun, but with our hospitality, our giving, our love & attention. God is also creatively seeking a relationship with each of us and that is where true JOY is found.

Now off to find my house under the piles of laundry, dishes, and dirt. Auugghh.
